Meet the Doctors at Tenckhoff Chiropractic in Brea
Derek Tenckhoff, DC, CME
Dr. Tenckhoff is a second-generation chiropractor. He is a Certified Medical Examiner and one of only 11 certified practitioners in California of the Cox Flexion Distraction Technique. This research-based method is highly effective for treating disc injuries, auto accident injuries, sciatica, and everyday neck and back pain. He is currently involved in publishing case study reports on difficult and complex cases with Cox Flexion Distraction. Dr. Tenckhoff offers specific protocols for spinal pain relief that are well-researched, well-documented, repeatedly-published and clinically-effective. The protocols were started 61 years ago by Dr. James M. Cox and have evolved as clinical application demands and research studies dictate. We are proud to offer the most cutting-edge, non-surgical, decompressive spinal pain relief.
Dr. Tenckhoff has been involved in chiropractic since the day he was born, receiving his first adjustment from his father just hours after entering the world. Growing up around his father’s practice, he saw firsthand how chiropractic care could change people’s lives. Many patients came in after seeing multiple doctors and being told surgery was their only option, only to improve with conservative chiropractic care. Seeing those outcomes inspired him early on and helped solidify his decision to follow in his father’s footsteps.
As a kid and young adult, he stayed active in sports including wrestling, judo, MMA, swimming, and baseball. Chiropractic care played an important role in keeping him healthy and performing at his best, which strengthened his belief in the benefits of natural, movement-based healthcare.
Dr. Tenckhoff earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Chico and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences. Today, he is passionate about helping patients in Brea and the surrounding communities find relief from pain and get back to doing what they love.
When he is not in the office, Dr. Tenckhoff enjoys spending time outdoors bodysurfing, training judo, and playing with his twin sons.
